THE DEVILED PROJECT
A Cookbook for the Wickedly Wholesome
Let’s be honest: the world feels a bit cracked right now—split down the middle like, well... an egg.
We’re living in divisive times. And while there’s no shortage of think pieces, protests, and platforms shouting from all directions, I’d like to offer a different approach: a deviled egg.
Yes, that deviled egg.
Loved. Hated. Feared. Worshipped at potlucks and shunned by picky cousins. There are few foods as polarizing, as oddly sensual, or as suspiciously room-temperature as the deviled egg. But it’s precisely that controversy, that unapologetic duality of creamy yolk and sinister paprika, that makes it the perfect ambassador for this strange moment in time.
So I’m creating something absurdly wholesome and delightfully unnecessary:
A cookbook entirely dedicated to deviled eggs—and the stories that rise up around them.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
A recipe that features, hides, reinvents, or weaponizes a deviled egg.
A story to go with it—about family, community, disaster, redemption, or just Aunt Trudy’s annual meltdown at the church social.
The story doesn’t have to be about eggs. In fact, I’d prefer it not be. I want the people, the place, the messy memory, the moment when everything fell apart or came together—with a deviled egg somewhere in the wings, doing its best.
Let’s bring people together the old-fashioned way:
through food, storytelling, and just a little bit of devilry.
